When you install U-profiles for the ceiling, there are several things you should pay attention to. The following steps will help you.
1. Start by mounting the U-profiles to the surrounding walls. This also makes it possible to increase the sound insulation of your ceiling system. The mounting points on the wall must be spaced 600 mm apart. If necessary, the profiles can easily be shortened. You do this using tin snips.
2. Then place the main framework of the C-shaped ceiling profiles on top of the U-profiles. The exact center distance depends on the total construction and any additional loads. The main framework must be attached to the upper structure at several points. Use hangers or other suitable aids for this. The first suspension points of the ceiling profiles must be at a maximum distance of 400 mm from the wall.
3. Mount the plate-bearing C ceiling profiles under the main framework, which are slid into the U-profiles. The distance between the C-profiles is usually 300 or 400 mm. These profiles are then attached to the main framework using metal stud cross connectors, which are also placed every 300 or 400 mm. A cross connector must be installed at each intersection of the C profiles. If additional length is required, this can be easily achieved using a metal stud connector. These connecting pieces must always be installed in a staggered manner.
4. Once the metal stud profile steel frame is installed, you can securely secure the drywall and complete your suspended ceiling.
